A series of connected parks, all with differing experiences to be had. The trails surrounding the concert venue features dusty riding along the infamous Red Rocks of course, and is worth trying despite its crowds. To the north is Matthew-Winters, which has a trail that overlooks the amphitheater itself for a unique view, and if you time it right, a free distant concert. To the east on Dakota Ridge is some of the most technical sanctioned trail in a 50 mile radius, and can humble the most experienced riders. Can also be linked into Green Mountain Park further to the east via the Zorro trail.
Apex Park / Chimney Gulch
These two out-and-back style parks are great rides by themselves, but can also be linked together at the top of Lookout Mountain overlooking the town of Golden for an experience with no repeats. Each park is entirely climbing until you reach the top for a full-send descent that definitely pays off. You can even grab a snack and see Buffalo Bill’s gravesite at the Lookout Mountain visitor center before you’re on your way back down.
